Meanwhile news of one of Altrincham's Cheshire League rivals comes from Cheshire Live, which confirms there is "Sadness as Blacon Youth first team forced to call it a day. Blacon Youth have been forced to withdraw from the Cheshire League Premier Division. The Cairns Crescent club announced on its Facebook page on Monday night that a decision had been taken to fold the first team.

In four years together the current Blacon group had won a league title, three successive promotions and no less than seven trophies to the club, their crowning achievement being lifting the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup last season.

But with Blacon's first team not in a position to be able to offer money to its players a number of their squad have been approached in recent weeks with offers of money to play elsewhere.

And with the club faced with not being able to field a team by the end of this month a decision was taken for the first team to call it a day, much of the squad heading across the border to keep the group together with an unnamed Welsh side.

Joint-manager Matthew Mackin told Cheshire Live 'I’m absolutely gutted this has come about. We have had a few teams coming in for our players over the past few weeks offering money. We can’t pay them anything at Blacon, in fact we charge £10 subs. So we wouldn’t have been able to field a team by the end of this month'".

ALTRINCHAM RESERVES 4-1 WHALEY BRIDGE ATHLETIC

On a cold Tuesday night at the J. Davidson Stadium, Altrincham lifted the Cheshire Football League Memorial Cup after overcoming Whaley Bridge Athletic 4-1.

With a starting eleven that included Toby Mullarkey, Max Harrop and new signing Luke Wall (pictured right), Altrincham went ahead in the fourth minute. But James O'Hara paid a high price for netting the opening goal, at the back post from a corner, as he ended up in the back of the net and, after lengthy treatment, had to be stretchered off with a leg injury.

Max Harrop netted a second goal in the 16th minute when his 25 yard freekick evaded the visitors' keeper. A fine run and finish by Luke Wall made it 3-0 in the 24th minute.

The second half was a more even affair but Alty added a fourth goal in the 52nd minute when Curtis Miller finished smartly. Athletic's German scored a consolation corner following a Whaley Bridge corner in the 70th minute.

HELPING RYAN

Altrincham FC reports that "A group of friends are trying to raise money for Ryan Barry, our Reserve Team Player Coach, who just over three weeks ago was taken to hospital.

Right: Ryan is seen playing for the youth team in 2011.

Since then he has had two major, life-changing operations and has been informed that he won’t be able to return to his profession as a personal trainer for some time. As he is self-employed, they are trying to raise money so that he doesn’t feel the financial troubles as much during his recovery.

Ryan has been involved with the club for over seven years and has consistently represented and captained the Reserves throughout the seasons he has played. More recently, Ryan has undertaken the role of Player Coach due to his willingness to improve the younger players coming through into the Reserve set up.

The club will be hosting a fundraiser dinner on the 23rd November. It’s £20 a ticket and tables of 10/12 are available. Please leave the club a message here to book in for this event.

If anyone has any material items, new or old that they wouldn’t mind donating for a raffle/auction on the night to raise money, then that would also be much appreciated.

There is also a GoFundMe page where fans can donate if they wish.

On 17 minutes Altrincham were reduced to ten men for ten minutes as the new "sin bin" rule came into effect. The score remained 1-1 at the interval.

Four minutes into the second half the visitors' goalkeeper was sent off for handling outside the penalty area. Stoconians insisted the ball had hit the keeper in the face. From the resulting freekick, Altrincham regained the lead (50 mins).

The result left them awaiting the outcome of Pilkington FC's remaining fixtures to determine who will be the Cheshire League Premier Division champions. The second-placed side needs to win its three remaining fixtures to match Alty's points tally. If they do so, goal difference would determine the destination of the championship.

After a goalless first half against Greenalls, four Altrincham goals in a ten-minute spell in the second half settled the encounter. Reece Colley broke the deadlock in the 54th minute with Callum Dolan (right) doubling the advantage barely a minute later. ALTRINCHAM RESERVES 5-3 EGERTON FC

In Tuesday night's match at the J. Davidson Stadium, Knutsford side Egerton FC took a 26th minute lead from the penalty spot. The visitors' striker, Darius Ofei, won possession but was brought down by Tom Clarke as he got into the box. The number nine got up to beat Andrew Jones from twelve yards.

Right: Alty salute Callum Dolan after his goal had made it 3-1. Left to right we see Dontai Gabidon, Matt Cook, Callum Dolan, Tom Clarke, Sam Heathcote and Jordan Hulme, with Reece Coley in the background.

Nine minutes later, Alty levelled the score when Jordan Hulme, playing to regain fitness after serving his four-match suspension, turned well and netted. The visitors had looked threatening up front but were disappointed to concede a second goal just before the interval when Reece Coley tapped in, after good work on the right by Dontai Gabidon.

The second half saw Altrincham impose themselves but the visitors matched the hosts' tally of three second-half goals. First of all, Alty made it 3-1, three minutes after the break, when a corner from the right evaded Sam Heathcote but fell for new signing Callum Dolan. From more than twenty yards he lashed a fierce drive into the net.

Substitute Ben Elliott made it 4-1 after 69 minutes when he worked himself an opening before finishing confidently. Two minutes later Hulme made it 5-1, with a neat dribble inside the box and a calm finish.

But, eight minutes from time, Egerton capitalised on substitute Sam Corbishley's mispass to score their second through Abzuhalli. And the visitors added a third, from the second penalty of the night awarded against Tom Clarke. This one seemed a little harsh but mirrored the sequence of the first spot-kick with Ofei both winning the penalty before converting it (90 mins).
