Altrincham FC Academy 2023-24
NEWS
20 March 2024
ALTY'S "ERRATIC" ACADEMY SIDE
The NL Paper has a report on Altrincham's Academy side's 4-1 defeat at York on 13 March, which gave the Minstermen some revenge for their first-team's thrashing at the J. Davidson Stadium the previous day.
Ironically the York side is managed by Tim Ryan, who briefly played for Altrincham.
The hosts took the lead early in the game before Harrison Howells (right) levelled for the Robins.
But three more goals produced a 4-1 win for York.
The NLP adds that "defeat means the Robins stay winless on the road since November and boss Paul Fay rued his side switching off at key moments...
He said, 'Our keeper Louie [Fallon] had two saves to make in 90 minutes. However, spells of lack of concentration in the game gave four goals away.
Results have been erratic for this group. Today there were fourteen first- and second-years and, with a short turnaround before the reverse fixture on Fiday, it leaves limited time to correct basic errors.
'I am confident they will learn and consistency will come'".
Paul will have been pleased to see the boys draw the reverse fixture with York before securing a home win over AFC Fylde.
Since our last update, the Academy side's results in the National League U19 Alliance league and cup competitions have, indeed, been erratic with just six wins, four at home, in 16 matches.
