Players & Staff who departed Altrincham in season 2024-25
or in close-season 2024
Christopher CONN-CLARKE (d.o.b. 22 November 2001) formerly no.10

He first joined Altrincham on a one-month loan from Fleetwood Town on 3 February 2022. However, after he had made a promising Altrincham debut, in a no.10 role, on 5 February 2022 against Woking, early in his second game, at King's Lynn, a foul tackle led to his being stretchered off. The extent of the injury meant that his loan was curtailed, as was announced on 15 February 2022.
Chris's return to Alty, on a second loan from Fleetwood Town, was announced on 21 July 2022. His skill as a number ten was again demonstrated in 2022-23 season. He became an ever-present and was the club's leading scorer with ten goals (9 in the league) when his loan was terminated after the match against Boreham Wood on 28 January 2023.
Rather than give Chris a chance to compete for a first-team place at Fleetwood, he was loaned out to Waterford, the now gaoled owner's club in Ireland, where he had a relatively undistinguished, and certainly unhappy, time.
His third arrival at Altrincham was announced on 16 June 2023, for what was a club record, but undisclosed, transfer fee, on the termination of his contract at Fleetwood.
His career had started out at Linfield and then Glentoran in his native Northern Ireland before he joined Burnley in 2018. He played twice during a loan spell with Chorley from October 2020 before joining Fleetwood Town in February 2021.
He made his EFL debut for Fleetwood in September 2021 and has played for Northern Ireland's under 17s, 19s and 21s.
2023-24 saw him score 23 league goals, provide 12 assists and sweep the board at the Player of the Season awards. His performance attracted several EFL clubs, with Peterborough United capturing his signature on 17 June 2024, which was a year to the day after Altrincham had announced his signing as their player.
Altrincham appearances: 79(+5), 33 goals
Justin DONAWA (d.o.b. 27 June 1996 in Bermuda) formerly no.33
Having turned down a contract renewal at Solihull Moors, Bermudan winger Justin Donawa was signed by Altrincham in a move announced on 23 June 2023.
After leaving Bermuda, he started his football career in the USA, where he enjoyed a pre-season with Columbus Crew but was not signed by the MLS club.
His experience in the UK began with a trial at Aberdeen in Scotland before he moved to England and joined Darlington in the National League North for 2019-20 season, where he played against Altrincham in a 1-1 draw at Moss Lane in which he was a used substitute.
Early in 2020-21 season he joined Solihull Moors from where he has joined Altrincham.
He is a Bermudan football international and has played in World Cup qualifiers for his country. In addition, Justin is also an accomplished cricketer and athlete.
Whilst at Solihull he faced Alty in 2021, scoring his side's equaliser before they emerged 2-1 winners. Injury and international absences with Bermuda limited his appearances in the early part of 2023-24 and on 17 February it was announced that he had gone on loan for a month to Chorley.
He duly returned to Altrincham in March 2024 but sadly he suffered a bad ankle injury at Ebbsfleet in the penultimate fixture of the season. He was invited back for pre-season in summer 2024 but did not appear in any of those summer friendlies.
However in autumn 2024 he started to appear in match warm-up sessions. Nevertheless it was unheralded when he re-appeared in a match day squad on 16 November 2024. Nevertheless, 11 days later on 27 Novemebr, the Club's social media announced that Donawa had signed for Brackley Town.
Altrincham appearances: 11(+11), 3 goals
Matthew GOULD (d.o.b. 7 January 1994 in Warwick) formerly no.21

Gould had been at Spennymoor since the start of 2018-19 season. His father is goalkeeper Jonathan Gould (Glasgow Celtic) and he is the grandson of prolific striker and manager of Wimbledon's "Crazy Gang", Bobby Gould.
Matthew was brought up in New Zealand and his goalkeeping career began there at Hawke's Bay United (2011). From there, he moved into football in Western Australia (2014) and his first English club was Cheltenham Town, a club he joined early in the 2014-15 season. From there he had a loan at Bishop's Cleeve (2015) before heading up to Scotland where he played for Livingston (2015/16)in a spell which included a loan to Stenhousemuir.
Early in 2016 he went, at first on loan, to Stourbridge where, in 2017-18, he played against Alty in the NPL. At the end of that season, he joined Spennymoor Town where he kept 20 clean sheets in 50 games in 2018-19. In the play-off final against Chorley, who had beaten Alty on penalties in the semi-final, Gould saved two penalties in the shoot-out.
He made his debut for Altrincham in the CSC at Barnton on 4 November 2020.
But despite being a regular at Spennymoor, at Altrincham he did not make his league debut until 3 May 2021 at Solihull and, indeed, over the whole season was only named on the bench for four other league games. In cup matches he played once, in the Cheshire Senior Cup, and was an unused sub for two other ties.
Injury in a pre-season match in summer 2021 was a factor in his exclusion from the first four matchday squads of 2021-22 before, on 24 September 2021, it was announced that he was going to Nantwich Town, on dual registration, to regain match fitness. Owing to injury to Tony Thompson, Matt was recalled from Nantwich on 13 October 2021, having made five appearances in which just three goals were conceded.
But Matt then returned to Nantwich Town and whilst there, in January 2022, he was called up to the New Zealand international squad for matches in the Middle East but was an unused substitute. It was also announced, in early February, that Matt would remain on loan at Nantwich till the end of the season but on his return in May 2022, it was announced that he would be remaining at Alty for 2022-23.
In addition to his role at Altrincham, Matt also coaches the under-18s and under-23s at Wigan Athletic. Having started the 2022-23 season in goal for the first-team, Matty suffered a bad facial injury in the second fixture, at Bromley. Having not played any National League after that, it was announced on Boxing Day 2022 that he would go on loan for a month to Ashton United but by 10 January he had been recalled.
On 7 February 2023 it was announced that Matt was going on loan to Chorley. However, he returned before the end of the campaign to cover for the injured Ollie Byrne.
In 2023-24 he had his busiest season to date, making twelve starts to cover for the mid-season injury to Ethan Ross, whilst remaining as coach to the first-choice keeper. However, on 1 July 2024 an unexpected announcement revealed that Matt was moving to play for Yeovil Town, the south-west being an area with family connections.
Altrincham appearances: 30.
Max HAYGARTH (d.o.b. 21 January 2002 in Manchester) formerly no.21
Max was announced as a new signing on 28 June 2024 but the previous season, on 12 March 2024, he had been revealed as a short-term addition to the Altrincham squad.
His favoured position is as a number ten but he can also operate as a winger.
After youthful spells at Manchester United and Brentford, Max joined Northern Irish club Linfield, where he spent just over a year making nine appearances. He left the club by mutual consent in January 2024 and made his Alty debut as a substitute on 12 March 2024. Although he made no further appearances before the end of the season, he was invited back for pre-season in summer 2024.
Before joining Linfield he had had trials at Luton Town, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City. During pre-season it was announced on 29 June 2024 that Max had been signed as an Altrincham player.
He started the 24/25 season as a first-choice player for the first four fixtures, but made only two more substitute appearances after that through injury and team selection. Having not figured for eight games, he was named on the bench at Woking in December 2024, which was his last apperance in a matchday squad before his departure, at the end of his short-term contract, was announced on 6 January 2025. By March 2025 he was playing in the third tier of UAE football for Dubai City.
In all, he made 6(+3) appearances for Altrincham in all competitions, scoring once in the Cheshire Senior Cup defeat by Vauxhall Motors.
Altrincham appearances: 6(+3), 1 goal.
Liam HUMBLES (d.o.b. 5 December 2003) formerly no.15

Midfielder Liam arrived on a one-month loan from Salford City in an agreement revealed on 7 September 2024. He made his debut from the bench in that day's 4-0 win over Ebbsfleet United. In the summer he had featured for The Ammies against Altrincham.
He had finished last season on loan at Nantwich Town but had ten Salford City starts to his name including the opening fixture of 2024-25 season.
Despite fairly limited game time during the seven league fixtures after his arrival, his loan was extended for a further month as was announced on 11 October 2024. A further extension kept him at the club until Gateshead announced that they had signed him on loan on 21 December.
Altrincham appearances: 8(+5), 0 goals.
Kacper PASIEK (d.o.b. 8 October 2005) formerly No. 32
On 4 January 2025 Altrincham revealed the one-month loan signing from Preston North End of the Polish left-back/midfielder. He made his debut, from the bench, on the same day against Barnet in he FA Trophy.
Having graduated through the Preston youth system from the age of nine, Kacper had loan spells at Warrington Town and Marine in 2024-25 season before joining Alty.
He scored a fine goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers U21 in the National League Cup in January and his loan was extended for a further month in a move announced on 4 February 2025. However, almost immediatly he was back at Deepdale, on the bench for an FA Cup tie on 8 February.
Nevertheless he returned to Altrincham and played several more times for the club before another recall towards the end of March triggered the end of his stay at Moss Lane.
Altrincham appearances 6(+4), 1 goal.
Sam ROSCOE (d.o.b. 16 June 1998 in Altrincham) formerly No. 16
On 16 June 2023 Sam Roscoe became the fourth summer signing to be unveiled by Altrincham. The 6 ft 5 inch, left-footed defender joined after leaving Northern Ireland club Linfield.
Although he is a local lad, he started out with Aberdeen where he was contracted from summer 2016, but he did not make a first-team appearance.
In summer 2018 he went on loan to Alloa Athletic and stayed there all season, appearing 25 times for the club.
In summer 2019 he moved to Ayr United (35 apps) before moving to Northern Ireland on a two-year deal with Linfield in summer 2021, where he made 84 appearances.
Sam is a cousin and former school-mate of former Alty keeper Ollie Byrne. After a spell out of the side he returned in November 2023 only to lose his place through suspension in December 2023. He was often a substitute into Spring 2024.
Despite being retained in summer 2024 on his initial two-year contract, Sam opted to leave and rejoin Northern Irish club Linfield, a move announced in the press in early June 2024.
Altrincham appearances: 17(+10), 0 goals.
Kian TAYLOR (d.o.b. 15 February 2005) formerly no.12

Kian's Alty debut was off the bench against Braintree Town on 8 February 2025. He went onto make 4(+2) appearances, though he missed his potential farewell game through illness. He scored two goals, a header against Newcastle United U21s in the National League Cup and the winner against Gateshead in the Vanarama National League.
Before joining Altrincham, Kian had made his PNE first team debut in the Carabao Cup. After breaking his arm he returned to fitness with the help of a loan spell at Stafford Rangers.
Kian's Alty debut was off the bench against Braintree Town on 8 February 2025.
Appearances to end of 2023/24 season: 0.
Connor TEALE (d.o.b. 8 October 2002 in Akrotiri, Cyprus) formerly no.31
Connor's signing was announced on 4 October 2024 to help to cover for the injured centre-back duo of Jake Cooper and Lewis Baines. A 6ft 2inch centre-back, he joined Alty after he had been released by Fleetwood Town following twelve appearances in all competitions for the Lancashire club.
A product of the Leeds United's Academy, he joined Fleetwood in 2021 and made his League One debut on the final day of the 2022-23 season.
After a loan at Marine in 21/22 season, he made twelve appearances on loan for Curzon Ashton in 2022, followed by six games for Farsley Celtic and seventeen games for Alfreton Town in 2023. His most recent loan spell, in 2024, comprised fourteen apearances for Scottish club Arbroath between February and the end of the season.
He made his debut at Braintree Town on 5 October 2024 and also played in the NL Cup match against Blackburn Rovers PL2 three days later. By 19 October 2024 his squad number had been assigned, ironically, to the Blackburn center-half Charlie Olson, against whom he had just played. So, although Connor's departure was not announced by Altrincham he had clearly left the club by 19 October.
He then joined Boston United for the remainder of 2024-25 season.
