On 1 February 2023, Altrincham FC announced Sonny's arrival on a season-long loan. He is a central-defender who has trained with United's first team squad.

Danny CASHMAN (d.o.b. 8 January, 2001 in Crawley) formerly no.11

Danny Cashman, formerly an England U17 international, become the ninth loanee to join Altrincham in 2022-23 when his arrival was announced on 31 January 2023.

He started at Brighton & Hove Albion, where he stayed from age 12 to age 20, before moving to Coventry City at the start of 2021/22 season. He immediately moved on loan to Rochdale, where he scored three goals in 29 appearances during that campaign.

A year later, in September 2022, he moved to Walsall on loan for the rest of the season but this arrangement was cut short in January 2023 after he had failed to score in ten appearances and had dropped out of contention with the Saddlers.

His Altrincham debut came at home to Wrexham on 4 February 2023 but that was to be the only match in which he completed ninety minutes. He was named in 11 matchday squads, nine in the league, but on three occasions he was an unused sub and only five times did he complete more than 10 minutes of action (excluding added time).

Ryan COLCLOUGH (d.o.b. 27 December, 1994 in Burslem, Staffs) formerly no.11

Winger Ryan Colclough made a surprise debut from the Altrincham bench against Bromley on 24 November 2020, having been signed that day on a short-term contract after departing from Scunthorpe United where, ironically, he had been keeping Alty loanee Andy Dales out of the side.

On 12 December 2020, after just one start and two appearances from the bench for Altrincham, Ryan signed for the club until the end of 2021/22 season.

Earlier in his careeer, after more than three years at Crewe (2012-16), Ryan moved to Wigan Athletic and went on loan from there to MK Dons before signing for Scunthorpe United in August 2018.

On 24 November, 2020 he made his Alty debut at home to Bromley and scored several fine goals before the season concluded. Ryan extended his contract till the end of 2022-23 season, a deal announced on 14 August 2021.

In 2021-22 he was again a standout performer on the left-wing for Altrincham and his good form continued into 2022-23 where his cut in from the wing and long-range shooting became his trademark.

His excellent play and seven league goals in 2022-23 brought the attention of various clubs with Chesterfield matching his buy-out clause and signing him in a deal that was announced on 12 January 2023, his signature being secured for an undisclosed fee.

Altrincham appearances: 88(+10), 26 goals.

Christopher CONN-CLARKE (d.o.b. 22 November 2001) formerly no.16

Chris's return to Alty, on a second loan from Fleetwood Town, was announced on 21 July 2022. Attacking midfielder Conn-Clarke had first joined Altrincham on a one-month loan from Fleetwood Town on 3 February 2022.

He had made a promising Altrincham debut, in a no.10 role, on 5 February 2022 against Woking. But early in his second game, at King's Lynn, a foul tackle led to his being stretchered off and the extent of the injury meant that his loan was curtailed, as was announced on 15 February 2022.

His career started out at Linfield and then Glentoran in his native Northern Ireland before he joined Burnley in 2018. He played twice during a loan spell with Chorley from October 2020 before joining Fleetwood Town in February 2021.

The Lancashire club extended his initial contract to the end of the 2022-23 season. He made his EFL debut for Fleetwood in September 2021 and has played for Northern Ireland's under 17s, 19s and 21s.

Chris's skill as a number ten was again demonstrated in 2022-23 season and he became an ever-present and was the club's leading scorer with ten goals (9 in the league) when his loan ended after the match against Boreham Wood on 28 January 2023.

Appearances to end of 2021-22 season: 33(+1), 10 goals

Shaun DENSMORE (d.o.b. 11 November 1988, in Liverpool) formerly no.2

Signed initially on a month's contract on 12 September 2008, Shaun is a former Everton Academy Player of the Year, who was released by the Toffees in summer 2008. After trials with Bradford City he joined Altrincham. A hardworking right-footed defender/midfielder, Shaun made his Alty debut on 16th September 2008 at ho,me to Vauxhall Motors in the CSC.

On 13 October 2008 he signed on for the rest of 2008-09 season, having impressed in a run of seven unbeaten games in the side.

The son of former Altrincham player of the 1980s, Peter Densmore, Shaun followed his father into the England semi-pro international side and scored on his debut for England "C" side against Malta in February, 2009. sadly, he picked up a medial ligament injury in February 2011 which sidelined him till the latter part of the season but he returned to full fitness before the end of the season.

A regular starter in 2011-12 in central midfield, Shaun was named captain on the departure of Robbie Lawton in November, 2011, a role assumed by Jake Moult in 2017. Most of his Altrincham appearances have been at right-back but he is also impressive in midfield and a capable left-back. His wholehearted approach and his excellent freekicks make him a key member of the team. His 2014-15 season was disrupted by injuries as was 2015-16 when he suffered two significant injuries by mid-October and in early January 2016 it was announced that a knee operation would terminate his season. He also missed much of 2016-17 through injuryl.

Following the resignation of manager Neil Young on 28 August 2016, Shaun, along with Alan Goodall and Jake Moult, was appointed to a joint caretaker-management role before the brief tenure of Jim Harvey. Shaun made a welcome but brief return to playing action on 6 December 2016 in the FA Trophy but was then sidelined again by injury for much of the remainder of that campaign. In 2017-18 he initially started mostly played as left-back, alternating in that role with Lewis Short, before re-establishing himself at right-back with some outstanding performances. By the closing stages of the season he was back to his best but an injury curtailed his Altrincham appearances in the final games and another injury early in 2018/19 season also sidelined Shaun.

2018/19 and 2019/20 have seen Shaun mainly in a substitute's role, in which was extremely dependable. Shaun re-established himself as first-choice right-back in October 2019 but season 2020-21 has seen him largely confined to the bench following the emergence at right-back of Joel Senior. He then fractured his arm in the game against Bromley which sidelined him again. After a testimonial match was held to mark his long service, and following the club's decision to move to a full-time playing squad, he opted to leave the club, a decision announced by Altrincham FC on 11 May 2022.

Altrincham Altrincham appearances: 405(+42), 29 goals.

Kennedy DIGIE (d.o.b. 24 December 1996 in London) formerly no.18

On 29 June 2021, Altrincham FC announced the signing of 6ft 4inch central defender Kennedy Digie. His most recent club had been Hereford FC but he had previously played against Altrincham for Guiseley in January 2020 as well as being an unused sub against Alty on a couple of occasions, including for Kidderminster Harriers in 2018.

Digie had joined Hereford in October 2020 having previously emerged from the youth system at Kidderminster Harriers in a spell which included two months on loan at York City and other loans at Midlands clubs Hednesford Town, Halesowen Town, Worcester City, Stourbridge and Nuneaton Town.

After his time at Aggborough, which included twelve first-team starts, he signed for Guiseley for a "nominal sum" in February, 2019, a club for whom he went on to play 22 league games before moving to Hereford.

A cartilage injury curtailed his pre-season and he underwent an operation in early September 2021. He finally made his debut in early November 2021 at Gateshead in the FA Cup. After 8(+2) Altrincham appearances his departure, on a month's loan to Farsley Celtic, was announced on 21 February 2022.

His release by the club was announced on 18 June 2022 and he immediately signed for Gloucester City.

Altrincham Altrincham appearances: 8(+2).

Marcus DINANGA (d.o.b. 2 January, 1998 in Gravesend, Kent) formerly no.30

Before it was announced on 11 June 2021 that he was joining Altrincham (on a two-year contract), Marcus Dinanga most recently had been on loan at Chesterfield, from Stevenage. Indeed, he was named on the bench when the Spireites beat Altrincham 1-0 in February 2021 in Derbyshire.

His early career was with Burton Albion, from where he went on loan to Mickleover Sports.

2016–17 season saw him playing for Matlock Town on loan, followed by a loan at AFC Telford United from the start of the 2017-18 season and he concluded that season as the Bucks' top scorer.

He started 2018-19 with what was intended to be a season-long loan at Hartlepool United but, in December 2018, he left and signed for Telford, netting 14 times, before moving on to Stevenage in August 2020 where he made six appearances, scoring once.

Before his involvement against Alty for Chesterfield this season, he had scored against Alty when the Bucks lost 5-2 at Moss Lane in February 2020. He had also been a substitute for both games against Altrincham at Telford in 2019 and 2020.

Marcus scored on his league debut for Alty at Torquay but, after three goals from eighteen appearances, on Christmas Eve 2021 it was announced that he was going on a month's loan to Kidderminster Harriers. On 1 February he moved on another month's loan to Dartford, where he remained till the end of the Kent club's season, finding the net regularly for the club, before making a start for Alty in their final fixture of the season in May 2022.

After failing to score until October in 2022-23 season he then netted in six successive matches but then lost form and featured mainly as a sub before his move to Gateshead for an undisclosed fee was announced on 4 January 2023.

Altrincham appearances: 33(+13), 10 goals

Kyle FERGUSON (d.o.b. 24 September 1999, in Glasgow) formerly no.24

Centre-back Kyle's arrival at Moss Lane, on a short-term contract, was announced on 25 February 2022.

In 2021, the 6ft 4 inch defender had been playing for Waterford in the Republic of Ireland, whose season had ended in November 2021.

Unsurprisingly, given his father Barry's career with Rangers, it was at that club that Kyle started out, with spells with Kilmarnock, Airdrie and Clyde (2016-18|) all featuring on his CV.

He also spent time in the USA on a football scholarship with Medaille College and prior to joining Waterford he had been playing for Ytterhogdals IK in Sweden.

Kyle has also done some modelling in the past.

Having broken into the team when Tom Hannigan was sidelined by injury, Kyle made eight successive starts and completed ninety minutes on each occasion. He was offered terms for 2022-23 but rejected these and joined EFL 2 club Harrogate Town instead; his departure was announced by Altrincham on 30 May 2022.

However, Kyle returned on a month's loan from Harrogate to Altrincham which was announced on 4 March 2023.

Altrincham appearances: 8(+1), 0 goals.

Michael GYASI (d.o.b. 3 February, 2000) formerly no.31

On 16 January 2023, Altrincham announced the season-long loan signing of Chesterfield left-winger Michael Gyasi. However, he did not make his debut until three games after that date, on 28 January against Boreham Wood at Moss Lane.

He has dual German and Ghanaian citizenship and his career has taken in the Academies at Northampton Town and Chelsea and the youth set up at Leicester City. After leaving Filbert Street he spent time at Nuneaton Borough, Bedford Town, Barton Rovers, Phonix Lubeck and St Ives Town.

He joined King’s Lynn in December 2020 from where he spent a period on loan at Dover Athletic before joining Chesterfield. He made his debut against Borehamwood on 28 January 2023.

Michael made just two starts and two further appearances from the bench for Altrincham and was an unused sub in a fifth matchday squad. In total, his playing time added up to less than the equivalent to two full ninety-minute games. On his premature return to Chesterfield, which was announced on twitter on 18 March 2023, The Spireites immediately sent him out on another loan, to Gloucester City.

Altrincham appearances: 2(+2), 0 goals.

Kole HALL (d.o.b. 22 August 1998) formerly no. 26

On 22 March 2022 former Radcliffe FC forward Kole Hall, who had featured for Alty Reserves in their most recent game, was named in the Altrincham first-team squad. He is a Bermudan international who spent a brief spell in 2020-21 at AFC Telford United in National League North.

On 18 March 2022 it had been announced by Radcliffe FC that he had left the club "upon the termination of his contact by mutual consent".

For Radcliffe he had made 31 appearances in the NPL since 2019-20 season and scored five goals. Two more appearances were made for AFC Telford United in 2020-21, without a goal being scored,

Following his short time with AFC Telford United, Hall re-joined Radcliffe in 2021 having been at City of Liverpool n the interim.

After one brief substitute appearance and another game for Altrincham in which he remained on the bench, it was announced on 28 March 2022 that Kole had been loaned to Nantwich Town on dual registration to gain match fitness. However, he returned and made his home debut on 23 April 2022 as a used substitute.

On 1 June 2022, Chester FC announced that they had signed him for the 2022-23 season

Connor HAMPSON (d.o.b. 23 August, 1992) formerly no.3

A tall left-back, who can also operate as a central midfielder, Connor joined Altrincham, initially on a month's loan, from Stockport County on 2 November 2017. His debut came on 4 November 2017, home v. Buxton

Prior to arriving at Moss Lane, he had been at Edgeley Park since February 2017, when he had joined from Curzon Ashton, but injury sidelined him before the end of the 2016-17 season at County. Connor had previously been at the Tameside Stadium since 2011. His impressive performances for Alty prompted an extension of his loan period into 2018. He missed several games in the Spring of 2018 through injury before returning for the run-in where he played well at centre-back.

A broken hand kept him out of the side during August and September 2018 before he returned to be a regular starter at left-back. At the start of 2019-20 he acted as captain in the injury absence of Jake Moult but after starting the first eleven league games, a foot injury cost him his place and he was then sidelined by the good form of Shaun Densmore. However, he reclaimed his place for the final eleven league matches and played an important role in the trio of play-off games which secured promotion.

Injury limited his Altrincham appearances in 2020-21 and he was unavailable for the start of 2021-22, awaiting a hernia operation. He made a spectatcular return on 12 October 2021 when he was required to play in goal for some eighty minutes after injury to Tony Thompson at Yeovil and he produced important stops as Alty secured a 1-1 draw. However, he was again sidelined by injury over Christmas and into 2022.

Outside football, Connor teaches in a primary school.

Following the club's decision to move to a full-time playing squad, he opted to leave the club, a decision announced by Altrincham FC on 11 May 2022. On 1 June 2022 it was announced that Connor had signed for Curzon Ashton.

Altrincham appearances : 116(+19), 6 goals.

Josh HANCOCK (d.o.b. 5 September, 1990) formerly no.10

Signed from Nantwich Town in May 2017, Josh is a midfielder who came through The Dabbers' youth set-up before moving on to Winsford United (2009-10). Next, he joined Witton Albion and made more than 150 Altrincham appearances and scored some fifty times.

He next joined AFC Telford United before a return to Witton, which preceded a move to Salford City and then a return to Nantwich Town in January 2016.

After making his debut on 12 August 2017 at home to Stafford Rangers, he started the season at Alty with four goals in his first six appearanes in league and cup matches and remained the leading scorer for the club in the league into mid-November. He continued to be a vital member of the team to the end of the season, weighing in with important goals.

By March 2018 he had become the club's leading scorer in the league with 14 goals and ended the season as the club's top scorer in the league with twenty goals to his name. He started 2019-20 suspended after being sent off in the play-offs at Chorley in May 2019 and then he picked up a calf injury to interrupt further his 2019-20 season, albeit briefly. 2019-20 saw him a regular starter in the no.10 shirt. A season highlight for Josh was his goal at Fratton Park against Portsmouth in the FA Cup and he ended up the leading scorer in the league.

In 2020-21 he was the club's leading league goalscorer for the third successive season, aided by five penalties. By the end of January 20022 he was again the club's leading scorer with seven goals in all competitions.

Following the club's decision to move to a full-time playing squad, he opted to leave the club, a decision announced by Altrincham FC on 11 May 2022. He then joined Curzon Ashton for 2022-23.

Altrincham appearances : 188(+26), 80 goals

Tom HANNIGAN (d.o.b. 30 June 1988) formerly no.5

Tom Hannigan, who was the captain of AFC Fylde, joined Altrincham on 23 May 2016. A very reliable central defender, Tom had joined AFC Fylde in summer 2014 from Vauxhall Motors who were then in Conference North. In his first season with Fylde he was named "Manager’s Player of the Season". Earlier in his career, Tom was released by Tranmere Rovers, aged 16, and then studied for ‘A’ levels before completing a degree at Hallam University.

He made his Altrincham debut on 6 August 2016 at home to Darlington. Sadly, Tom picked up a knee medial ligament injury in only his second competitive game and was ruled out for a substantial period. His season was further disrupted by suspension and another injury, in Spring 2017, which prematurely terminated his season. However, he recovered to start the 2017-18 campaign and put in some assured performances before injury again sidelined him in late October 2017. However he again recovered and his consistency and experience were an important factor in Alty's strong run-in for the league title in 2018.

2018/19 saw him again as first-choice left-sided centre-back, a role he has continued to execute with consistently good performances in subsequent seasons. He had been a virtual ever-present in 2021-22 until injury sidelined him in January 2022.

Following the club's decision to move to a full-time playing squad, he opted to leave the club, a decision announced by Altrincham FC on 11 May 2022. On 1 July Warrington Town announced that Tom had joined them, just hours after confirming that former team-mate Tony Thompson had also joined the club.

Byron became the eighth player in the Alty squad to have been signed twice or more in his career by Phil Parkinson when he reappeared on 24 September 2022 on the bench against Aldershot Town. As on his previous stay at Altrincham, he had been signed on a short-term contract.

His first arrival had been announced on 5 December, 2020 when his previous club had been Barrow, a club he had left at the end of 2019-20 season.

However, the 6ft 3inch forward started out at the other end of the country, in Hampshire, at Havant & Waterlooville (2005) and also played for a variety of other southern clubs including Worthing in West Sussex, Boreham Wood in Hertfordshire, Harrow Borough in Middlesex, Ashford Town in Kent and Carshalton in Surrey.

In 2011 he returned to Hertfordshire and joined Stevenage Borough, playing there in League One, before dropping to League Two with AFC Wimbledon, where he stayed for two seasons before joining Cheltenham Town and then Chesterfield. A second stint at Stevenage, this time on loan, preceded his release by Chesterfield in 2016.

For 2016-17 he joined Barrow where he had his most prolific spell, scoring 27 times in 56 appearances. Next, he returned to the south of England, on loan to Sutton United.

For 2018/19 he signed for Barnet where he netted only twice in that season and was released. A return to Barrow followed for a season (2019/20) in which 24 of his 29 appearances came from the bench and he did not score, before being released.

Because of injury, it was more than a month after first arriving at Alty that Byron made his club debut, as a substitute, at Sutton on 9 January 2021. He went on to make seven starts, without finding the net, before his departure was announced on 15 March 2021.

After just one appearance from the bench for Alty, NPL First Division East club Grantham Town announced, on 22 October 2022, that he had joined them on a dual registration with Altrincham and he duly played for the Gingerbreads that day at Pontefract Colieries. Yet six days later on 28 October, Altrincham announced that he had signed for Nantwich Town in the NPL Premier.

He has been a prolific goalscorer in United's PL2 Division One side and continuedto combine his role at Altrincham with ongoing coaching at United.

His National League debut came away at York City.

In late April it was announced that he had returned to Manchester United.

Altrincham appearances: 8(+2), 1 goal

Connor JENNINGS (d.o.b. 29 October 1991 in Manchester) formerly no.35

Nearly fifteen years after his brother James had started a loan spell at Moss Lane, Connor Jennings's arrival at Altrincham, on a one-month loan from Stockport County, was announced on 7 November 2022 and he made his debut the next day at home to Barnet. The loan was extended for a further month, as was announced on 9 December and a third month extension was revealed on 10 January 2023. However, soon afterwards he was recalled by County and by the end of January had joined Hartlepool United.

Connor's first major impact in football was at the Bower Fold where he made 123 appearances and netted 53 times for Stalybridge Celtic between 2009 and 2011. That success led to a £100,000 move in January 2012 into the Football League with League One Scunthorpe United.

He made 14 appearances for The Iron before going on loan to Stockport County in November, 2012. In summer 2013 he moved on loan to Macclesfield Town and in February 2014 his next loan spell was at Grimsby Town.

Summer 2014 saw him leave Scuthorpe and sign for Wrexham where he stayed for two seasons before signing for Tranmere Rovers where he spent another two seasons before he signed for Stockport County in July 2020.

Connor had played against Altrincham several times before joining The Robins and had also scored against them, including a brace in Stalybridge's 5-1 win in October 2011.

Other appearances against Alty included, for Wrexham, as a used sub in Alty's 3-2 win at the Racecourse in 2014 but he scored in the Welsh side's 4-1 win in the reverse fixture that season.

He also captained Wrexham at Moss Lane in a 1-1 draw in February, 2016, having also played in the reverse fixture in 2015/16. Only ten days after news of an extension to his loan was announced, Stockport recalled him. He left Moss Lane having not played in a losing side for all ten games after his initial debut in a defeat by Barnet.

Altrincham appearances: 8(+3), 1 goal.

A-Jay LEITCH-SMITH (d.o.b. 6 March 1990 in Crewe) formerly no.27

A-Jay first appeared for the club in a pre-season game on 27 July 2021 but his signing was not announced until 7 August.

His career started at Crewe Alexandra where, during a six-year stay, he enjoyed loans to Halifax Town, Newcastle Town, ÍBV (Iceland), and Curzon Ashton.

In summer 2014 he joined Gary Johnson's Yeovil Town for a season and then signed in at Port Vale for 2015-16, ending up as The Valiants' top scorer that season. The next season saw him playing for Shrewsbury Town before a loan-move in 2017-18 to Dundee.

The pattern of changing clubs every summer continued in 2018 as he joined Morecambe where, despite a hamstring injury, he became the Shrimps' top scorer in 2018-19 season.

He made made 23 Altrincham appearances in EFL2 in 2019-20 but in only eight of those matches did he start and that was followed by just five league Altrincham appearances for Morecambe in 2020-21 season before he was released.

His Alty games were mainly from the bench but he proved an adept finisher when given the opportunity. However, he was released at the end of the season, a measure announced on 18 June 2022. He then signed for Nantwich Town w.e.f. 1 July 2022 but at the start of November he moved on to Warrington Rylands.

Altrincham appearances: 4(+15), 4 goals.

Dan MALONE (d.o.b. 9 May 2002) formerly no.31

Dan has Welsh representative credentials, for the under-17 age group, and has captained the side. He has spent the last two years on contract at the Britannia Stadium but has been at the club since the age of nine.

At the Britannia Stadium he is predictably nicknamed "Bugsy"!

Dan's stay at Altrincham was interrupted by call-up to play in one of Wales's international age-group teams but he made four league starts and one more in the FA Cup for the Robins, plus two appearances from the bench before an injury enforced absence for six matches preceded a return, on the bench, on Boxing Day 2022.

Dermot MEE (d.o.b. 19 November 2002 in Birmingham) formerly no.29

Previously, he had been in United's under-23s' team and even played against the Robins for United in July 2022 in a pre-season friendly at Moss Lane..

Mee was signed by Altrincham on an emergency loan deal valid until January 2023 and his move followed three previous loans for the keeper, to Trafford, Runcorn Linnets and Witton Albion in 2021-22 season.

United stated that, whilst at Altrincham, Mee would continue to train with United and to play for United's Academy sides in Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy.

He had previously played against Altrincham for Chester FC and Ashton United whilst on loan spells from the Fleetwood club, for whom he made two first-team appearances. He holds a number of Wales under-21 international caps.

His 2020-21 season was disrupted by injury and made just 13 starts and ten Altrincham appearances from the bench. 2021-22 promised to be better as he completed seven of the first ten fixtures but since then he failed to play for 90 minutes in any of the next 19 league fixtures.

Mooney surprisingly decided to move sideways to another National League club, Southend United, a move announced on 26 May 2022.

After 97 Altrincham appearances and six goals, he moved on to Chester FC in 2019, where his Altrincham appearances were initially limited, but he won their Goal of the Season award in 2020-21.

Following injury he had a second spell with Nantwich, passing the hundred appearance mark for the club over his two spells at the Weaver Stadium, before returning to Chester in December 2021.

He settled in as regular right-back across Christmas and New Year but lost his place after six successive starts. It was then announced that from 1 March 2022 he would rejoin Nantwich Town on a"two-month loan deal" with manager Parkinson insisting that he had been signed with an eye to the 2022-23 season and that being loaned out was always part of the plan.

Following the resignation of manager Neil Young on 28 August 2016, Jake, along with Shaun Densmore and Alan Goodall, was briefly appointed to a caretaker-management role before Jim Harvey took over.
