Altrincham were thrashed 7-1 in the FA Youth Cup Third Qualifying Round at Chorley's Victory Park.

The first half saw Altrincham enjoy plenty of the ball despite falling behind as early as the seventh minute when Redmayne scored following a freekick awarded for a foul on him by McNamara.

Altrincham levelled midway through the first half when captain Kian Mattison (left) played in Bagley who netted from left of goal with a low shot.

Skill by Fernandes on the left started a Chorley move which saw the ball transferred to the right and, though McNamara halted the advance, the ball was recycled by Chorley and it found Howse who netted into the roof of the net from left of centre (44 mins).

What had been a livelyand fairly evenly matched first half was to become a one-sided procession in the second period. The process started when Chorley went 3-1 up after Smith had found Whalley who controlled the ball impressively before volleying home from 15 yards (51 mins).

Obanwonyi did very well to clear off the line for Alty, after Coulton's brilliant dribble into the box. But from a corner, barely a minute, later Smith was allowed a free header st the near post to make it 4-1 (58 mins).

Next, an underhit back-pass from McNamara left goalkeeper Bunting stranded and Howse scored into an empty net to make it 5-1 (71 mins).

Chorley's sixth goal was a route-one effort; the home keeper punted the ball upfield and Clarke got behind Cain to score (80 mins). The seventh goal came out of nothing as Whalley's low shot from the left beat Bunting.

In the second half Altrincham had had no answer to Chorley's pace and direct counter attacks.
