ALDERSHOT TOWN (0) 2
ALTRINCHAM (0) 1
played on Saturday, 6 December, 2025 at 3pm
SUMMARY:
Leading 1-0 as the game went into the 90th minute, Alty threw the points away in the closing stages to give Aldershot a much needed win.
Altrincham had earlier put in a very poor first-half performance against an Aldershot side which had lost all of its previous eight games but who were were comfortably the better side here in the first forty-five minutes.
Alty were grateful to a fine save by Hutchinson from Ryan Jones to keep the score 0-0 at the break. At the other end the only effort on goal was a mediocre effort from Kirk which was comfortably saved.
Altrincham were initially a little better after the break before fading. But then, out of the blue, Crankshaw took advantage of a ricochet to fire home, right-footed and give Altrincham an unlikely lead (62 mins).
Immediately, a spat involving John Coleman the home manager got him booked as was Alty's Lee Jones.
But the Robins could not hold on and Ghandour equalised in the 90th minute after a fine save by Hutchinson saw the ball come back off the post for Ghandour to score.
Then substtiute Frost beat Kosylo and scored off the inside of the post to take the lead (90+2 mins). Altrincham could have no complaints at the result as the Shots ended their long run of defeats.

BACKGROUND:
Aldershot who had lost all eight of their most recent fixtures, started the game second-bottom, whilst Altrincham's good form under Neil Gibson had taken them up to fourteenth.
REPORT:
Crankshaw kicked off for Altrincham who were playing the first half up the slope at the EBB Stadium. After a reasonable start by the visitors, they were grateful, nevertheless, for a poor pass by the Shots' Ghandour after he had got past Jake Cooper (8 mins).
But neither keeper was to be troubled in the first quarter of a game of very indifferent quality.
Barrett was looking the biggest danger to Altrincham from the home side but it was symptomatic of the overall game that the match's first corner came from an error, an overhit Aldershot back pass (26 mins).
Almost immediately, at the other end, Hutchinson made the first meaningful save of the afternoon, a fine stop from Jones after the home player had got past Marriott (27 mins). Sassi cleared the corner but another home corner followed off Ward from another slip up by Marriott.
Indeed Altrincham errors were too frequent with Cooper the next to err allowing Barrett to advance before the ball ended up with Hutchinson.
It was the 31st minute before Altrincham had a shot on target but Kirk's effort at this point was underwhelming and went comfortably to the keeper (31 mins).
A foul on Sassi earned Barrett a yellow card (35 mins). As Altrincham continued to produce a less than convincing display it was Barrett who produced the next shot but he aimed straight at Hutchinson (41 mins).
Alty's faltering performance continued with the home side looking the more likely to score but another chance for them went begging as Barrett fired narrowly wide with the interval approaching (44 mins).
In added time Tetek also shot wide before Altrincham gratefully reached half-time on level terms after an uninspiring first half.

The Shots should have gone ahead soon after the break when a Ward mis-pass allowed Barrett to free Henry who put the chance over the bar (47 mins).
As the game approached the hour mark Altrincham saw plenty of the ball but their build-ups were pedestrian and unproductive.
Next, another Barrett effort deflected to Hutchinson and, just a minute or so later, the same player's curling shot flew narrowly wide (59 mins).
Against the run of play Altrincham now took the lead. Ward fed Crankshaw who cut inside from the left before firing a shot right-footed into the net (62 mins). It was the winger's third goal in two games.
After the goal, Shots manager John Coleman seemed to take exception to something and argued with Crankshaw before having to be restrained by a member of the Aldershot staff. In the aftermath Coleman was booked as was Altrincham assistant manager Lee Jones (66 mins).
At this point Marriott was replaced by Osborne who, within a minute, was booked for a foul (67 mins).
Aldershot now made a change as Henry was replaced by Thomas (70 mins), followed soon afterwards by Weaver and Knowles coming on for Kirk and Gale for alty (71 mins). Waever soon won his side a corner, which came to nothing, but then Crawford did get in a fine shot but it flew wide (74 mins).
The lively Barrett soon tested Hutchinson (75 mins) before another home shot won Aldershot a corner (78 mins).
Soon afterwards, Altrincham made another double change with Hinchy and Kosylo replacing Ward and Crankshaw (82 mins), followed by Frost coming on for the Shots instead of Grogan (83 mins).
Next, Kosylo got himself a booking (83 mins) as did fellow substitute Knowles five minutes later, with the Shots applying some late pressure.
But Altrincham could not hold out and, in the ninetieth minute, Hutchinson made a fine stop, diverting a Jones shot onto his left post only for Ghandour to find the net from close range to level the score.
Eight added minutes were decreed but, inside just two of those minutes, the Shots had turned the game around as Frost, on the left wing, received a 55-yard throw from his goalkeeper and got the better of Kosylo and put his side ahead wuth a superb shot which went in off Hutchinson's left-hand post (90+2 mins).
Armitage now replaced Barrett (90+3 mins). As time ticked away, Tetek clattered Golden and was booked but the Robins were unable to find a leveller and, in all honesty, they did not deserve to do so.
So Aldershot had their first win in nine matches whilst Altrincham achieved the unenviable record of having lost to both of the current bottom two sides in the National League.
