SUMMARY

Altrincham went ahead after three minutes, through Hulme who converted a Hampson ball, before Rokka made it 2-0 with the game went in the 24th minute. However, Kidsgrove pulled back a goal through Cropper, twelve minutes later.

Alty's lead was extended by a penalty, conceded by Morris early in the second half, when Hulme was brought down (51 mins). Hancock netted from the spot but the score became 4-1 after 66 minutes when Hulme finished off a Savage ball. However, Kidsgrove scored a fine goal through Chris Baker to make it 4-2, twenty minutes from time.

With a televised World Cup semi-final as competition, this game was watched by a modest crowd.

Phil Parkinson started this pre-season friendly game with ten present or past first-teamers, including Sean Miller, who ended last season on loan at Trafford as he recovered fitness. On the bench the manager again gave youth its head with six youngsters included alongside Williams and Richman, and all were to play for part of the game, as was trialist keeper Roberts.

BACKGROUND

Jordan Hulme gave Alty an early lead when he smartly converted a Connor Hampson cross from the left, the ball going into the net just inside the post (3 mins).

Alty trialist Elliot Rokka made it 2-0 in the 24th minute but Kidsgrove pulled back a goal through Lee Cropper twelve minutes later.

After the interval, Altrincham extended their lead when Hulem was clearly brought down by Morris. Josh Hancock stepped up to convert the spot kick (51 mins).

The score became 4-1 to the visitors in the 66th minute when Hulme netted a Savage cross, the provider having only joined the game a few minutes earlier.

But again Kidsgrpve responded and just four minutes later they scored a fine goal, when Baker found Rhodes who drove the ball home from the edge of the box to make it 2-4 (70 mins).

All of the Alty subs got some game time as they built on their 3-0 win at Rhyl in advance of their trip to the Isle of Man on Saturday.
