Manager George Heslop has kindly supplied the information which forms the basis of the following report.

Altrincham were without thirteen players who were involved in the Cheshire County FA trials. This game was played in three thirty-minute segments, with Altrincham starting with a 4-4-2 formation before switching to 3-3-3-1. This was to see how players performed in different roles. By the end of the first half-hour period, Alty led 3-0.

Three or four changes were made for the second period, during which Alty added two more goals, to lead 5-0.

In the final 30 minutes Altrincham adopted a more containing formation and this meant that goalkeeper Burrows was busier than he had been. He did well, especially with his shot-stopping. The game ended 5-0 to Altrincham, the goals being scored by Hughes (two), Hancock, Kelsall and Harper. Another plus point was that the referee congratulated the side on their good behaviour during the game.

This good performance leaves manager Heslop with a difficult selection task for the new season. But having so many good players is a situation he prefers to being short of talent.
