REPORT

Altrincham Youth had to make a late change when centre-back Alex Weatherby was ruled out after suffering an injury the previous day playing for Cheshire FA.

On a bobbly pitch, FCUM started the better and won the game's first corner (6 mins). However, soon Alty enjoyed a better spell but a shot narrowly wide from Bezzina was the nearest to a goal for either side at this stage (12 mins). The defences remained on top before FCUM won another corner, off Cunliffe. Soon after this the visitors' Lee got free but shot wide (23 mins).

Just before the half hour Riley's pass set Ofori running at goal and he won his side a corner. At the other end, Bullen saved well from Poizer before the visitors won two corners (30 mins).

Altrincham almost took the lead in the 36th minute when a fine freekick from Riley found Ofori but his header went well wide. As Alty kept going forward, Mooney was fouled and the visitors' Taylor was booked. Just before the break Bezzina managed to poke a shot at goal but a defender cleared this before it reached the line (42 mins).

In the 45th minute, Bezzina did get the ball into the net after persistence by Ofori, but the effort was ruled out for offside.

At the start of the second half Bullen had to be alert to stop the lively Yousif. Then a long range shot from Taylor went narrowly past Bullen's right stick (51 mins). Some Alty pressure followed, with Bezzina winning a corner, before the visitors brought on a no.16 for Poizer (54 mins).

A foul on Ofori led to Lacy being cautioned (56 mins). Next a fine turn by Taylor allowed him a shot which Bullen saved well. Another FCUM substitute soon followed whilst at the other end Alty kept getting caught offside (64 mins).

A blocked shot from Bezzina yielded an Alty corner but FCUM won one themselves soon afterwards. Following this, FC's Taylor drove home a shot from outside the box to give the visitors the lead (68 mins). A minute later it was 2-0 for FC United when Yousif got free and, though Bullen stopped his first shot, he tapped in the loose ball (69 mins).

FCUM picked up their third booking when Musialowski fouled Riley, who did well to avoid being caught by the offender (82 mins).

Altrincham made late changes as Gilroy replaced Cunliffe (87 mins) and Hames came on for Lyons (89 mins). Ofori got booked in the final minute of normal time but, despite a few minutes of added time, Alty's run of five league victories had come to an end.
