REPORT

Report based on information supplied by George Heslop

In this friendly match, played on Manchester United 3G pitch at Carrington as part of Irish club St Kevin's Boys' tour of England, play was split into three half-hour segments.

Altrincham were without Joe Coombs (working), Tom Davidson (joined Clitheroe), Ollie Riley (injured), Josh Mason (unavailable), as well as Adam Reid and Duncan Watmore, who were both travelling with the first team the next day.

Altrincham took the lead after ten minutes through Derryn Ofori, a lead which they held at the first break. At this point Alty introduced three midfield substitutes and it took the new line up a little while to settle down but they retained their lead as the game went into its third period of thirty minutes.

Altrincham's fitness told as they scored two more goals in the closing seven minutes, despite losing Sam Grimshaw to injury. Liam Rutledge took over at the back and it was from his excellent cross that Denico Walters scored the second goal.

Then, following a long throw from Sam Rowley, Spencer Cunliffe netted the third. Rowley was the Man of the Match with a performance which proved his versatility as he played variously at right-, left- and centre-back.
