REPORT

Altrincham were without six of their squad from last Sunday's game against Morecambe for this friendly match at Knutsford. In the first half, Altrincham were by far the better side and could have been three-up by the interval. The Alty central midfield partnership of Davies and Wallace was too strong for the County side, but overall Man of the Match was Sam Grimshaw who moved forward to left midfield after playing at left-back on Sunday.

The first half ended goalless.

The CCFA took the lead with a scrappy goal, following a corner, in the 55th minute. After taking the lead the County side came more into the game. After the hour mark, Choudhury replaced Coombs at the back. Meanwhile, the pace of Woolley up front was impressing for Alty. Another change arose when Greg Stewart replaced Grimshaw who was unwell. Grimshaw was to return later in place of the injured King.

Alty's equalizer was a well struck shot by Davies into the keeper's bottom left corner, from outside the box. With darkness falling, the game petered out into a draw. Nevertheless, it had been an excellent performance by a very young side which places extra pressure on the manager in his team selection for the next match.
