This was another pre-season game played over three thirty-minute periods, which gave each member of the squad at least half an hour's action. The young age of Altrincham's squad was underlined by eight of the 17-man squad today being under seventeen. This was their first game as squad members after a series of matches also involving other trialists and in those circumstances they gave an impressive performance with fluid movement and passing. Chadderton were excellent opponents, approaching the game in the same positive spirit as Altrincham and providing an open game and a stern test.

Altrincham capitalised on their chances, with their first two goals being scored from freekicks. The first was a fiercely hit dead ball by Owen Davies, whilst the second, by Ashley Woods some twenty minutes later, was a placed freekick which went round the wall and beat the keeper at his left post.

A fine ball through from Smart set up Walker to make it 3-0 and Woods got his second and Alty's fourth. Another friendly is scheduled for next Sunday at 2.30pm but with the opposition and venue to be confirmed.
