MATCH REPORT

Alty manager George Heslop had nine of his 23-man squad missing including six of the players who had been in the squad for the previous week's game. However, Ben Oliver was back after his holidays but he had picked up a shoulder injury which prevented his taking his trademark long throws. Also returning to the side after recent absence through injury were Daniel O'Donnell, Liam Brownhill and Blaine Whiteside. Indeed, much of the central spine of the side was missing so players were deployed out of position in some cases. Brownhill, for example, was playing in an unaccustomed left-back role.

Two first-half goals from Paul Cordock helped the visitors to a 2-1 interval lead.
