REPORT

Report based on information kindly supplied by George Heslop.

Altrincham were without the injured Simcock but welcomed back Marcus Baxby in midfield. This game was played in a very strong wind and in the first half Alty at times had difficulty not over-kicking the ball as it blew behind them. Morecambe had five or six decent chances in the first half but good defending and goalkeeping kept them at bay.

The first goal did not arrive till around the 73rd minute when Colulo advanced well up the middle and fed Davies, to his left. His cross was well met by Tom Bailey to put Alty ahead. Six or seven minutes later Alty went two ahead when Shanks-Pepper, who had replaced Steenson, crossed for Davies to score. With some of the Alty side tiring in the heavy conmditions, Alty made another substitution as Zareh-Ourang replaced Howe. From a freekick, Morecambe pulled a goal back after 85 minutes before repeating the act with two minutes left. Last week Alty had recovered from 3-0 down to beat Leigh 4-3 but, this week, the roles were reversed with Alty the victims of a late comeback. Crawford came on for Colulo for the closing minutes of the game.
