Michael Risk was fit to play so Tom Barclay reverted to right-back. Up front, Rick Crawford came in for Matty Williams. On the bench, for the first time, was Hassan Zareh-Ourang's brother, Reza.

The game started in very bright sunshine, which caused problems to the linesman on the far side. At first, Altrincham's minds still seemed to be thinking about their victory in the Cheshire District Cup. The early exchanges were reasonably even until Hassan Zareh-Ourang had a goal disallowed in the 15th minute. However, two minutes later, Rick Crawford fed a ball through to Astley Mulholland who netted to start the scoring (17 mins).

In the 26th minute, Ben Deegan assisted Rick Crawford, who made it 2-0. Then Altrincham relaxed and things went off the boil. In the 34th minute, a ball came into the Alty box and an Eagley forward came across the back four and headed the ball into the net. Two minutes later Eagley cam close to equalizing when they hit the post. Half time arrived with Alty leading 2-1 after a lacklustre first half.

Things changed very much in the second half when Altrincham began to pass the ball. In the 53rd minute, Ben Deegan found Astley Mulholland who made it 3-1. This combination repeated the move in the 61st minute to make it 4-1. The game then slipped away from Eagley when one of their centre-backs was dismissed. In the 75th minute Danny Browne replaced the injured Andy Keogh and, a minute later, Danny Chebrika came on for Lewis Bishop in goal.

Ben Deegan scored twice in the 77th and 81st minutes to make the score 6-1. Then, a mistake on the left by Altrincham enabled Eagley to make the score 6-2. Altrincham completed the scoring after 83 minutes when Rick Crawford crossed for Dean White to score with a close range diving header.

Altrincham's sixth goal of this match was their 100th of the season.
