REPORT

Report by George Heslop.

Altrincham set out for Barrow on a cold, frosty morning, lacking four of their regular players; Danny Chebrika, Anthony Davies, Matty Williams and Curtis Connell. Two players, goalkeeper Lewis Bishop and Rick Crawford, were making their debuts. With Alty having beaten their opponents 12-0 at home, two weeks previously, the pressure was on the revamped Furness Rovers side.

Altrincham got on top from the very start and took the lead in the tenth minute thorugh Astley Mulholland with a fierce shot. The goals then came at regular intervals, through Rick Crawford in the 18th minute, a goal from Ben Deegan signifying a return to fitness (27 mins) and then Hassan Zareh-Ourang scored a hat-trick in ten minutes (35,42 and 45 mins). The first two of Hassan's goals were fierce volleys from outside the area, helping to give Altrincham a 6-0 interval lead.

After 50 minutes, Kieran Raynes replaced Richard Gresty and then Ben Shanks-Pepper came on for Dean White (56 mins). Furness Rovers' keeper Scott Barlow performed bravely in keeping the score down but a further two goals were added by Ben Deegan (67 mins) and Rick Crawford (78 mins). This was a very satisfactory win, but Altrincham have a hard set of fixtures coming up.
