REPORT

Altrincham showed two changes from the Altrincham & District FA side which played last week. The injured Tom Barclay was replaced by Kieran Raynes at right-back and Anthony Davies came in for Matty Williams, who is recovering from the knee injury he picked up in last week's game for the FA side. On the bench, goalkeeper Todd Cunliffe replaced Phil Leaff.

The game kicked off on a bright but blustery day, with Altrincham playing into the wind. Alty took the lead after five minutes when Anthony Davies threaded a pass through for Ben Deegan to score. After dominating most of the first half, Altrincham went 2-0 up after 40 minutes when Deegan netted again.

After 47 minutes a neat back-heel from Astley Mulholland across the edge of the box found Andy Keogh and he scored with his left foot - a collector's item! Soon, though, Alty had to make two changes. Firstly, Matty Williams replaced the injured Dean White; Astley Mulholland moved to the right as Matty joined Deegan up front. Then, Ben Shanks-Pepper came on for Andy Keogh, who had also taken a knock. An excellent interchange of passes between Mulholland and Davies left the latter one on one with the keeper and Anthony netted to make it 4-0. Goal number five was also laid on by Mulholland, with Ben Deegan converting the chance to complete his hat-trick.

The Japanese referee had an excellent game and prevented some robust tackling from getting our of hand. Alty made a third change when the injured Raynes had to be replaced by Danny Gray. There was still time for Astley Mulholland to round off his excellent diaplay by laying on another goal for Deegan to make it 6-0 and move Altrincham to second place in the league table.
