In this return league fixture against second-placed Eagley, Altrincham had three changes from the side which won 5-1 away. Stephen Lunt, Jason Lennox and Barry George were unavailable and were replaced by Stevie Taylor, Paul Breidenbach and Tom Read.

Altrincham came out really ready for this match in the battle for second place in the Division. The first ten minutes consisted of numerous Altrincham attacks led by Douthwaite and Collins. They took the lead in the 12th minute with a move involving Matthew Tooth, Andy Thorpe and an astute lob from Kieran Lugsden made it 1-0. Three minutes later it was 2-0. Douthwaite got the ball to skipper Chalmers who finished well. In the 19th minute Lewis Chalmers and Andy Thorpe put in Stuart Cook for a 3-0 lead. Altrincham then carried on their passing game and were well on top.

Kieran Lugsden was fouled 20 yards from goal and Lewis Chalmers scored with a quality free kick to make it 4-0 in the 24th minute. Eagley came more into the game and in the 32nd minute Paul Lewis cleared an attack for a corner. Half-time arrived with Altrincham in a commanding 4-0 lead.

Stevie Taylor replaced Paul Lewis at half-time to give him his first run since Barnsley.

The second half started with Eagley competing strongly. However, Kieran Lugsden hit the bar in the 65th minute. A double substitution occurred in the 69th and 70th minutes; Adam Ball for Kelvin Lugsden and James Monaghan for Kieran Lugsden. Finally, in the 80th minute, Altrincham scored their fifth goal when Andy Thorpe pressurised the Eagley left-back into conceding possession. He crossed and Stevie Taylor scored on his come-back with a fierce drive. In the 84th minute Man of the Match Andy Thorpe hit the bar when a goal would have capped his best performance in an Altrincham shirt.

Next Sunday Altrincham (2nd) are away to 3rd-placed St.Helens Town.
