REPORT

The notes that follow are based on information from Neil Brown, the Alty Reserves' manager. Any errors are mine.

Altrincham Reserves gave one of their poorest performances of the season against Chorley in this match. After Chorley had taken an early lead, a cross from James Marsden was dropped by the Chorley keeper and it went into the net off his own head to level the scores. Indecision in the Alty defence soon allowed Chorley to advance up the right and score a second goal from a tap-in. However, Alty responded again when the Chorley keeper allowed a ball to bounce under him, leaving Paul Monaghan with the formality of knocking the ball into the net. So, it was 2-2 and only seven minutes had passed! The score remained the same till the interval.

Half-Time: CHORLEY RES. 2
ALTRINCHAM RES. 2

Chorley added two better quality goals in the second half to which Altrincham could not respond. One of the few Altrincham players to emerge with credit from the game was midfielder Val Owen, who is getting back to match fitness.
