ALTRINCHAM FC PLAYERS OF 1975/76
The following pen-pictures are taken from the Bangor City v Altrincham programme, 6 October 1975, supplemented fromthe Halifax Town v Altrincham programme of 22 November 1975.
WOOD, John: Goalkeeper. New signing this summer from Rossendale Un., whom he was with 5 years. Ex Blackburn Rovers
ALLAN, Stan: Signed 4 seasons ago from Skelmersdale United whom he was with for 4 years. Holder of an F.A. Amateur Cup winners medal. Started his career with Kirkby Town. Has missed only a handful of games since joining Altrincham.
BROOKE, Micky: 4th season with the Robins after a long spell with Ellesmere Port. A very versatile player who is just as happy playing up front as in defence.
CROSSLEY, Ivan 2nd season after signing from Bangor City. Football League experience with Coventry City.
OWENS, John: 4th year with Altrincham after a short spell with Skems. A former British Universities team captain.
CASEY, Gerry: One of the most outstanding players with the club for the past two seasons, a tower of strength in the middle, who was previously with Tranmere Rovers and Ellesmere Port Town.
HUGHES, Roy: Signed 12 months ago from Bangor City.Previous Football League experience in Bury's promotion winning side.
DICKINSON, Len: Club captain, who is a player who never gives less than 100%. In his 4th season after experience with Sheffield Wed., Oldham, Witton Albion, Buxton and Mossley. Popular with the crowds wherever he plays.
CLEMENTS, Paul: Signed this summer from Wigan Ath. Ex English Amateur International whilst with Skelmersdale United before being transferred to Oldham Athletic.
HEATHCOTE, Graham: Made his way into the side via the Youth team. An extremely talented player who has been in the side for 4 seasons. 21 years of age.
PRITCHARD, Joe: On loan to Bangor City for a spell last season. Ex Tranmere Rovers and Ellesmere Port.
SMITH, Phil: 4th season with the Club. Scorer of many vital goals last season.
WINDSOR, Andy 4th season at Altrincham. Renowned goalscorer in Non-League soccer.
MOORE, Micky: The club's recent signing for a substantial fee from Great Harwood where he was last season's top scorer. Formerly with Preston NE and Southport. He spent the summer in America.
CAVANAGH, Tommy: Goalkeeper. Has been in goal for the last few matches in John Wood's absence through a groin injury A very capable deputy for whom great things are predicted. Son of the Manchester United trainer.
CARRICK, Dave: Now in his second spell at the club after signing from Rochdale. Has had Football league experience with Wrexham and Preston North End.
HUGHES, John: Last season's top scorer with the Robins. A former Welsh U-23 international whilst with Blackpool. Signed for Altrincham from Bangor City.
WAIN, Les Signed on trial after service with Southport FC. This 21 year-old is a former England Youth player.
