ALTRINCHAM FC PLAYERS OF 1969-70

  • 1. GEORGE SMITH - Goalkeeper. Helped the club to win two Cheshire County League Championships and has figured prominently over the last four seasons.
  • 2. TERRY McDONALD - Most recent signing from York City. Has seen service with Barrow and Southport.
  • 3. MIKE TURNER - Local boy who signed professional terms last season after a spell as an amateur.
  • 4. FRED STEWART - Signed from Runcorn for a substantial fee and in his third season with the club.
  • 5. BRIAN TAYLOR - Another defender who joined the club in July 1968 signed from Rochdale where he gained a wealth of football league experience.
  • 6. PETER JONES - Signed from Stockport County and now in his second season. Previously with Wrexham and Manchester United.
  • 7. IAN MORRIS - Previously with Stock port County, a very fast winger.
  • 8. MICK WALKER - Signed earlier this season. Has played with Rotherham and Mansfield. Last season was playing in America with Los Angeles Wolves.
  • 9. JOHN WORTH - Continually plagued with knee injuries for the last two seasons. Making a make or break attempt to regain his fitness.
  • 10. JACK SWINDELLS - Scored almost 250 goals for the club since his signing from Newport in 1965. A great favourite wherever he plays. N.P.L.'s current leading goalscorer.
  • 11. RON SMITH- Former Southport, Crewe, Bournemouth and Port Vale winger. Now commencing his third season.
