On Tuesday night (1 February 2005), at Vauxhall, Mark Maddox joined an elite group of players when he played his 300th first team game for the Robins, thus becoming only the 13th post-war player to pass the 300 games mark. He joins a list containing some famous Robins' names.
Mark made his debut for Altrincham at right back on 17th August 1996 at Moss Lane against Rushden & Diamonds in a 4-3 win and played many of his early games in that position. Apart from a few months at today's opponents, Barrow, in 1898/99 (playing 3+1 first team games, all at right back!) Mark has spent his entire senior playing career at Altrincham.
His career hasn't always run smoothly, with injuries and previous management selections but he's always stuck with it and given never less than 100% every time he pulled on an Altrincham shirt. He is the ultimate 'Club Man' and a player that never gives in and the sort of player every team needs.
Hopefully you'll all put yours hands together and applaud a player who understands the word, loyalty.
Mark's Altrincham Career Stats up to and including Tuesday 1st February 2005:
A worthy 'Legend' and here's to the next 100 appearances, Mark!
