Matt was the captain of the Altrincham FC Youth team early in 2011-12, having been a regular starter the previous season, too. Formerly with Accrington Stanley, he can play in midfield as well as in the back line and made his first-team debut in the Cheshire Senior Cup Final in 2011. Matt made his first league appearance at Solihull on 17 September 2011 and made his first BSB North start three days later at Colwyn Bay. Matt played on EvoStik forms at Clitheroe from the turn of 2011/12 till the end of that campaign. He returned to Altrincham for 2012-13 pre-season and scored in the friendly at Nantwich but was released before the start of the campaign. Altrincham career appearances: 2(+2).

  • Jamie GREYGOOSE (d.o.b. 27 March, 1993)

Jamie signed for Altrincham on 4 October 2012, following in the footsteps of his father Dean, who played in goal for Altrincham in 1999-2000 as a loanee from Northwich Victoria. Before joining Altrincham, Jamie was playing for Ely City in the Eastern Counties Premier League. Although he was on the bench for several games, Jamie did not make an appearance before Adam Reid returned from his successful loan at Goole to resume as Stuart Coburn's understudy. Altrincham career appearances: 0

  • Chris LYNCH (d.o.b. 29.12.1984)

Experienced central midfielder/right-back Chris Lynch joined Alty on 3 June 2011, following assistant manager Neil Tolson, from Hyde FC, for which club he made his debut in 2004. Previously he had been at Wigan Athletic and he arrived at Moss Lane after 249 starts and 38 sub appearances for The Tigers, for whom he had been a virtual ever-present for the previous three seasons. His early days at Altrincham were affected by injury but he was an established starter well before Christmas 2011. He ended the 2011-12 season playing at centre-back and looked to be set for another season at Moss Lane. But in July 2012 he opted for a change of career and gave up his painting and decorating work to join Ashton United where he was offered both a playing role and a coaching job with Ashton manager Danny Johnson's community football coaching company. Altrincham career appearances: 32(+6), 2 goals.

  • Leighton McGIVERN (d.o.b. 2.6.84 in Liverpool; height 5ft 8ins)

Leighton McGivern joined Altrincham on 5 March 2012, after he had left Vauxhall Motors, where he was the leading scorer, with 18 goals to his name at that stage of the season. 14 of these goals had come in 21 league matchesin a troubled season for the Wirral club. Leighton had gained Football League experience with both Rochdale and Accrington Stanley before he rejoined Vauxhall Motors for a third time in January 2011.

    Leighton's former clubs include:

  • 2002–2003: Aberystwyth Town 10 appearances, 3 goals
  • 2003–2004: Vauxhall Motors 1 app., 1 goal.
  • 2004–2005: Rochdale 25 app's, 1 goal.

Leighton's first start for Alty came on 6 March, 2012, against Stalybridge Celtic and went on to score four goals in seven starts, including a hat-trick in what proved to be his final appearance. He had been sent off in the preceding game and so finished the campaign suspended. Though invited to discuss terms for 2012-13, Leighton did not respond to calls and messages over the summer from manager Lee Sinnott, who was therefore obliged to release him in late July, 2012. He later re-emerged in Merseyside amateur football. Altrincham career appearances: 7(+2), 4 goals.

  • Ben MILLS (d.o.b. 23 March 1989 in Stoke on Trent)

Ben signed for a one-month loan period from Chester FC on 21 February 2013. His early career included time at Leek Town and Port Vale before he joined Newcastle Town in July 2007. A second spell with Leek followed in 2008. He joined Stafford Rangers in summer 2009, with a brief spell at Alfreton Town coming after that, but he then went back to Marston Road.

Next came a spell with Nantwich Town (2011), followed by a move to Macclesfield Town in early 2012. Ben joined Chester FC in August of 2012 on loan and scored twice against Altrincham at Moss Lane, before returning to the Moss Rose. His loan became a transfer to Chester 's payroll in November 2012, with funding provided by the club's supporters. After an initial prolific spell at Chester, the goals had become less frequent before his loan to Altrincham.

Unfortunately Ben's loan ended in a serious knee ligament injury against Droylsden on 5 March 2013 and he returned to his parent club. Ironically he had just scored his first goal for the club before the foul that ended his season. Altrincham career appearances: 4, 1 goal.

  • Scott PHELAN (d.o.b. 13.3.1988 in Liverpool, height 5ft 8ins, weight 11st 2lbs)

Scott Phelan was signed by Altrincham on 6 March 2012, two weeks after he had joined Vauxhall Motors, where he had been on loan since December 2011, from Kidderminster Harriers. The Harriers released him in February 2012.

As a youngster, Scott was with Everton where his path crossed with Alty's captain, Shaun Densmore. Scott was captain of the Toffeemen's under-18s and reserves before he was released in 2007. A contract with Bradford City followed and it was with The Bantams that he made his Football League debut, as a substitute, in August, 2007. He went on to make 13 Football League and three cup appearances for the Yorkshire club. In a mass clearout at the Bantams, Scott was released at the end of the 2007-08 season.

Next, Scott joined FC Halifax Town in September 2008 before he signed for Kidderminster Harriers. He made his Alty debut as a substitute against Stalybridge on 6 March 2012 and was set to play an important part in the 2012-13 season but was unexpectedly offered a full-time coaching role at Everton and left Moss Lane on 14 August 2012. Altrincham career appearances: 10(+1), 2 goals.

  • Jordan SINNOTT (d.o.b. 14 February 1994)

Jordan was signed on a one-month loan from Huddersfield Town as a short-term reinforcement to the squad in December 2012. Son of Alty boss, Lee Sinnott, Jordan is a midfielder who made his debut for Altrincham on the right flank against Gainsborough Trinity on 8 December 2012. Jordan was captain of the Yorkshire club's under-18 team in 2011-12. Altrincham career appearances: 6.

  • Andrew SMART (d.o.b. 17 March, 1986 at Wythenshawe, Manchester)

Altrincham FC signed Trafford FC left-back, Andrew Smart on 19 March 2012. Andy was a rarity on the playing staff at Moss Lane in recent years in being an Altrincham resident. He was brought up and still lives in Timperley and was born in Wythenshawe Hospital, on 17 March 1986.

Andy played at Macclesfield Town (2003-07), where he broke into the first team playing 9(+3) games for them, of which 7(+2) were in League Two. However, an injury cost him his place and he moved on loan to Northwich Victoria, who were then in the Conference, where he played 19(+1) games, and scored once.

From 2007–2010 he was with Stalybridge Celtic, for whom he made 98 appearances and scored 15 goals. Andy moved across Tameside to Hyde for 2010-11 where he netted seven times in 34 appearances, which led to his receiving an award as the Club's top scorer that season. When new manager Gary Lowe released all the players at Ewen Fields, Andy joined Trafford. Naturally left-footed, Andy is tall and a good dead-ball kicker, with a firm shot.

As a youngster Andrew turned out a couple of times for Altrincham FC's Youth team. He made an assured first-team debut for Alty on 24 March 2012 against Solihull Moors but returned to Trafford at the end of the 2011-12 season. Altrincham career appearances: 7.
